It has earned a strong reputation as a centre for academic excellence and innovation. The Faculty has approximately&nbsp;<strong>1<\/strong><strong>8<\/strong><strong>0 faculty members, along with close to&nbsp;<\/strong><strong>5<\/strong><strong>,000 undergraduate and about&nbsp;<\/strong><strong>900<\/strong><strong>&nbsp;graduate students<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/hB5Vu_6iw4M\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen=\"\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">An integral part of our innovative culture is the focus on&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=ZkoOefu3wUo\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">experiential learning and problem based learning<\/a>&nbsp;that enables students to gain hands-on experience through co-op work terms, internships, research opportunities, clubs and teams and teamwork-based assignments. This&nbsp;stimulates&nbsp;learning, leads&nbsp;to personal development and discovery, and enhances students\u2019&nbsp;ability to function effectively very quickly after moving into their career paths.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The Faculty attracts approximately $45 million in annual research funding<\/strong>. Engineering faculty, staff and students at McMaster pursue research and learning in more than&nbsp;<strong>22 research centres, institutes and networks<\/strong>&nbsp;whose interdisciplinary pursuits cross departmental and Faculty boundaries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Outside the University, we collaborate regularly on research projects with partners in universities, government and&nbsp;<strong>more than 100 companies in Canada and abroad<\/strong>. Our partnerships with global engineering companies are key to the success of our learning and discovery programs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Our mission is purposeful and clear: To think globally and act locally to solve the grand challenges facing our communities.
